Archdeacon's Cottage - About Us

Archdeacon’s Cottage has been dealing internationally in art, silver, porcelain and interesting and quirky pieces since 2002.

We buy only items that reflect quality of design or manufacture, and that we would be happy to display or use in our own home. We have eclectic tastes, so on our website you will see items ranging from the 18th to 21st century. We do not value quality by price; good design or interest can be found in pieces that range from tens of dollars through to thousands.

We buy only items that reflect quality
of design or manufacture.

We are based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, where we are happy for you to view items before you purchase.

As believers in sustainability, we also re-use or recycle all our packaging wherever possible.

Ashbury Goblet

At a special dinner in the Ashbury Room, Gerry Bates from Australia presented the Ashbury Goblet to RHYC Commodore Ken Rolls.

The goblet was originally commissioned by our former club commodore, James Ashbury, as a thank you gift to Michael Rattsey, who had designed and built his schooner, “Cambria” 1868.

A long-lost silver trophy from the Isle of Wight yacht race in 1868, found and researched by Archdeacon’s Cottage. Cambria became the first ever foreign challenger for the America’s Cup. The trophy was returned to the Royal Harwich Yacht Club to mark the opening of their new clubrooms.

We are always interested in purchasing suitable antique or vintage pieces or whole collections; just send us an email with images and prices wanted.
