Alfred Fontville de Breanski (British, 1877-1957) was the son of prolific British landscape painter Alfred De Breanski (Senior). Both father and son painted imposing landscapes drawn from their explorations of the countryside in Scotland and, as in this work, the English Lake District. This substantial oil on canvas is signed l.r.c. ‘A de Breanski’, and inscribed, titled and signed verso ‘The English Lakes, Spring Morning in Borrowdale, A De Breanski Jr’.
Measurements: without frame 65 (25.5 inches) x 40 cms (16 inches); with frame 81 cms/38 inches x 67 cms/26 .5 inches
Condition: very good condition overall commensurate with age; has probably had a light clean in the past.
